President’s Message
Dear NVOS Members,
As an orthopaedic surgeon in Nevada, you are aware of the challenges that we face daily with increasing government regulation in health care and unwieldy insurance oversight on top of the ever-expanding body of knowledge and technical skills that we need to continually master. Intrusion in health care affecting the way we practice medicine. We all face these challenges. The Nevada Orthopaedic Society can help us unite to face these challenges and more.
The 2023 legislative session demonstrated the importance of advocating for ourselves. Our organization, in addition to others with similar aims, was able to participate in the fight to lessen or soften some of the blows that seemed to be coming at us from all directions. Through our society and political action committee, we had a seat at the table with legislative leaders regarding malpractice reform, scope of practice concerns, and many other issues that would have affected orthopaedic physicians. Although most of us would have hoped for better outcomes with some of these issues, it is unlikely that there was a better deal than what resulted. The Nevada Orthopaedic Society will continue to fight to protect our ability to provide high-quality patient care and maintain successful practice environments while fostering personal health and happiness. These are goals that we all share.
Our membership benefits, such as ongoing advocacy, educational programs, and communications efforts, are designed to deliver on these goals.
